a visual arts program for newly resettled refugee youth

Cost: $250

ASTEP parters with the International Rescue Committee to provide the Refugee Youth Summer Academy (RYSA), a 6-week summer camp designed to help newly resettled refugee youth prepare to enter the NYC public school system and create a successful life for themselves in their new home.

At RYSA, ASTEP Volunteer Artists strive to use the arts to increase school readiness, build English language skills, and enhance students’ social and emotional development. RYSA is more than a summer school: it is a chance to welcome students while simultaneously allowing them to be proud of their home countries. $250 funds a visual arts program for over 100 students!
